Stephen Wilson discusses the design and development of the iManageCancer serious game for adult cancer patients which aims to help patients view their disease fight from a new perspective as well as provide a fun and challenging activity.
Patient empowerment through strengthening disease self-management is the aim of the iManageCancer project and project members were delighted to be part of the forum. The workshops were an opportunity for the participants from a range of disciplines and groups to try the apps and provide valuable feedback.
The first version of the iManageCancer apps are ready to start pilot testing which will provide key results to measure the benefits of the apps to cancer patients. The vision for the apps is to provide practical and emotional support for cancer patients during the process of receiving treatment. The apps help patients communicate more effectively with their doctors and other supporters, and provide tools that will help living lives that are as normal as possible.
